As is often the case in the works of Miki Tallone, the artistic practice is structured around the physical and semiological presence of an archetypal element. Each of the four newly minted coins displays one part of the Christian symbol of the cross. The word for “money” derives from the Latin “monere”, which means “to warn”. By a narrative short-circuit, the piece ends up inside a network of semantic connections where the link between money and danger underpinning the notion of “warning” evoke the betrayal of Christ.
